BLURB:
From the bestselling author of All Is Not Forgotten comes a thriller about two missing sisters, a twisted family, and what happens when one girl comes back...

One night three years ago, the Tanner sisters disappeared: fifteen-year-old Cass and seventeen-year-old Emma. Three years later, Cass returns, without her sister Emma. Her story is one of kidnapping and betrayal, of a mysterious island where the two were held. But to forensic psychiatrist Dr. Abby Winter, something doesn't add up. Looking deep within this dysfunctional family Dr. Winter uncovers a life where boundaries were violated and a narcissistic parent held sway. And where one sister's return might just be the beginning of the crime.

This book deals with Narcissistic Abusive Disorder.

EXPECTATIONS: I have read All is not Forgotten by Wendy Walker before and really loved it so when I saw that new book of hers is coming out I was beyond excited.

THE WORLD: Wendy Walker writes a very normal world that we all live in. However, she also tends to add sourness to it aka people are not perfect and shitty things happen. Hell, some people are just really shitty human beings.

CHARACTERS: Cass and Emma are more or less main characters in this book. However Emma is more talked about than actually being an active participant. Basically this book goes backwards, something happened and then many years after somebody comes back and explains what happened. I know it is pretty standard storytelling in Crime but hell it really works here. Cass is the one that comes back and keeps asking everybody to go find Emma. Three years before Cass and Emma disappeared. They found Emma's car but nobody saw the girls. And when Cass comes back and says they need to rescue Emma the case gets reopened. I must say, Cass is amazing story teller. The way she explains it all...it just really works. Additionally we have FBI investigators, a detective and a psychologist and we also get psychologist POV from time to time. I just love how Wendy Walker uses the psychology experts in her books! But I think the most striking thing about this book were parents. Ms Tanner, Cass and Emma's mother has a Narcissistic Abusive Disorder and it is illustrated perfectly in the book I think. It is just my opinion and I might be wrong but I was on my toes reading about her. It was just so well done.

ROMANCE: Not really a center.

GOOD: The really messed up family and the relationship between sisters. Wow just wow. Wendy Walker really knows how to write this dark side of things that are never talked about.

BAD: Honestly cannot think of anything.

OVERALL: Just like All is not Forgotten, this book was just fantastic. Wendy Walker can really write! I am definitely reading anything of hers in the future, cannot wait for her next book!

What do you think about EMMA IN THE NIGHT?
